So you've bought your house, and something is off. You decide maybe painting is the next best option to help your house feel more like you! Picking paint colors can be very overwhelming because there are so many options, but I am here to help maybe make the process a little easier.
Step 1: Find/Use your inspiration photos.
What is my go-to? Pinterest of course! If you are wanting to paint your living room, start to search for living room photos that represent your style. Begin to find similarities in your inspiration photos and use that as a base to pick some basic color ways. Another way to pick colors that go well together is looking up color pallets.

Step 2: Get some swatches!
Once you have landed on "green" for the living room, now you have a million different greens to choose from. Head to your local paint shops and/or the closest Lowes to grab as many paint swatches as you can carry. The larger the paint swatch the better! You are going to want to hold/tape up these paint swatches on every wall in the room you are planning on painting. What is crazy about color, is that it will look different on every single wall.
A couple of things to do to help narrow it down:
Make sure you pay attention to how the colors look in your lighting, during the day and night.
Make sure to pay attention to how the color looks with your current trim color (if you are keeping it).
Pay attention to how to the colors look with your current furniture and decor.
Doing all of these things will help you narrow it down to a couple of colors.

Step 3: Grab a friend or grab some paint!
If you are still having a hard time deciding, having a friend help you pick always seems to help. If even that is not working, go back to your local paint shop and purchase some sample cans of the colors you like. Physically paint some swatches on the wall!

A couple of other items to note: My go-to brand is Sherwin Williams. Benjamin Moore has great options as well! On the Sherwin Williams website, they provide a list of coordinating colors for each paint color option. If you have one color you really like and just need some other colors to go with it, check out their website!
Painting your home is fun and exciting! I hope my steps are helpful!
Until next time! - hg
